Women’s Ministry Activities

Bible Studies

Precept Bible Study For women desiring to dive deeply into  God’s Word and gain foundational Bible  study skills this class should be a priority.  The class meets on Monday nights @ 7:00  PM. The study uses the Kay Arthur materials  and thrives on group discussion.

Transformation Studies (Friday Morning and Wednesday Evening)  This class provides diverse, biblically faithful  opportunities for spiritual growth. The study  sessions vary from 8-12 weeks and nourish  women in Biblical truth and vital  relationships with other women. The  Wednesday evening group meets from 6:30-7:30 PM and the Friday Morning group  meets from 9:30-11:30 AM. There are studies  offered each fall and spring.

Retreats & Conferences

Our Women’s Ministry offers retreats and/or conferences for relationship building, focused learning,  and spiritual renewal. We desire to minister to the women of Ashland Avenue with these opportunities  but also to reach out to other women who long for spiritual growth and those who do not know Christ.  Be listening for information regarding our next retreat/conference.

Ministry Opportunities

Ladies’ Visitation This ministry is designed to show love and kindness to ladies who are unable to attend church or participate fully  in the life and ministry of the church. The ladies involved in this vital ministry visit these needy people on a  regular basis. The ladies also visit the mothers of new babies to encourage them and minister to them. Any  woman who longs to be involved in practical Christian ministry would benefit from being a part of this ministry.

Secret Sister This is a simple ministry of kindness and encouragement. Women are paired with another woman for a period of 6 months and they send encouraging notes, small gifts on special occasions, and seek creative ways to simply  encourage their friend. At the end of the 6-month period the women have a fun time where they reveal who their  secret sisters have been.

Angel’s Attic Angel’s Attic is a consignment sale sponsored by the Women’s Ministry. The  profits from the sale are shared between the seller (70%) and local Ashland  Avenue Missions (30%). This sale has provided financial support in the past for  the Lexington Crisis Pregnancy Center, mission projects, and help for needy  people. We have two consignment sales each year, one in the spring and one in  the fall.

Special Ministry Events

The Women’s Ministry of Ashland Avenue is always seeking new, creative ways to serve and be a blessing to  others. A couple of opportunities that we are involved in each year are hosting the hospitality room at our World  Impact Conference. This ministry allows speakers and guests to our World Impact Conference to have a room in  which to refresh and relax. Another simple way to serve others is providing a night out for parents each  December. This ministry allows couples with children to have a night out in the busyness of the Christmas season.  The Women’s Ministry also seeks various ways to plan times of fellowship and relationship-building among  women. We are always looking for new ways to serve and your input and creativity would be appreciated.
