Mars Hill Conversations September 7th - Adoption

On Sunday evening, September 7th from 6:00-7:30 pm we will host our first Mars Hill Conversation. Mars Hills Conversations will be dialogues where we discuss issues related to theology, culture, and Christian living. Most often, we will host special guests who God has uniquely equipped to teach and challenge us to take every thought captive in obedience to Christ in the area of our conversation for that evening.

We are delighted to announce that our first Mars Hill Conversation will address: What Does Adoption Have to do with the Great Commission? Orphans, Jesus, and You Our special guests for the evening will be Dr. Russell Moore and Dr. Randy Stinson.

Dr. Moore is the Dean of the School of Theology and Senior Vice President for Academic Administration at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and serves as executive director of the Carl F. H. Henry Institute for Evangelical Engagement. Dr. Moore has written frequently on issues of theology, culture, and political theory.  He is the author of two books, Why I Am a Baptist, and The Kingdom of Christ: The New Evangelical Perspective, and is currently writing a book about adoption. He and his wife Maria have four sons, ages six and under, including two who have been adopted.

Dr Stinson is Dean of the School of Leadership and Church Ministry and Assistant Professor of Leadership at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.  He also serves as President of The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMW), an evangelical organization that seeks to promote the biblical teachings on the complementary differences between men and women, created equal in the image of God. Randy has appeared on Fox News, Nickelodeon’s Nick News program, Religion and Ethics Weekly (PBS), and he has also been featured on over 75 radio shows, including Janet Parshall’s America and The Albert Mohler Program. He and his wife Danna are the parents of six children, including three who have been adopted.

This will be an evening of lively discussion that you will not want to miss. We will not run from any of the challenging questions related to the issues surrounding adoption. Please join us and bring others as we seek God’s wisdom on this practical and relevant topic.
